Coffee pot is broken. It is not making coffee… it is, as of right now… a useless pot. What do people do in the morning without coffee?! No… seriously. I need to know!
Colossians 4:5-6
Good morning, everyone! This morning started out rough… the coffee pot has decided that it is no longer interested in making coffee 🙁 So I am sitting here… no coffee… writing to you all. Let’s get started! 🙂
This morning’s study was from Greg Laurie (have I mentioned I like his quick studies?). He hits on what I want the site to focus on so many times… it is really the coolest thing ever to me right now! Today’s verse is from Colossians.
“Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.” — Colossians 4:5-6
My friends and I were talking about this last night… how if you say anything along the lines of “my belief contradicts your belief…” it almost immediately makes people defensive and/or hostile. Our opinions differed a little last night in the conversation. I took the stance that alienating people by soliciting your belief unwarranted is more about winning than about reaching them.
As Christians we are to be meek and also a light. We should not condemn others or judge others, because we are not without sin ourselves. You can disagree with someone without making them resent you. Pastor Laurie’s post gave Issac Newton’s definition of tact: “the art of making a point without making an enemy.” I hope that we can all learn that art and reach the soul (lead them to Jesus) rather than win the argument.
