Kerri

Hello.  My name is Kerri and I’m very excited about reading Scripture and sharing here what I’ve read.  Let’s study God’s word together!

Colossians 4:2

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”  ─  Colossians 4:2

Something I struggle with is prayer.  While it may come easy to other people, it does not with me.  I spend more time reading the Word than praying.  This is a command from God.  We communicate with people by talking with them.  Relationships will break apart without that communication.  It is the same way with God and prayer is how we communicate with God.  Without prayer we have no communication with God and the relationship breaks apart.

Three key words, “Pray without ceasing.”  — 1 Thessalonians 5:17.  From a study on the internet: “As we go through the day, prayer should be our first response to every fearful situation, every anxious thought, and every undesired task that God commands. A lack of prayer will cause us to depend on ourselves instead of depending on God’s grace. Unceasing prayer is, in essence, continual dependence upon and communion with the Father.”

I would love to have met Corrie ten Boom.  I enjoy reading her books and cannot believe what an amazing godly woman she was and how God used her in her darkest days.  I’m putting in a few of her quotes on prayer below.

“What wings are to a bird and sails to a ship, so is prayer to the soul.”

“Any concern too small to be turned into a prayer is too small to be made into a burden.”

“The wonderful thing about praying is that you leave a world of not being able to do something, and enter God’s realm where everything is possible.  He specializes in the impossible.  Nothing is too great for his almighty power.  Nothing is too small for his love.”
