This is a touchy subject for most people. I had some interesting thoughts on it though. I hope you all enjoy 🙂
Acts 17:30
So this morning I woke up and while my coffee was brewing I did what most people do… Scrolled through my news feed on Facebook 🙂 One of the posts I saw was a friend of mine saying that he had heard several times this week that “Gays are going Hell!”
How can any Christian feel like they are justified in telling anyone they are going to Hell. As a Christian we are NOT to judge. Certainly we wouldn’t want to alienate anyone by passing that judgement on them. Isn’t our ‘job’ as a Christian to lead people to Christ, who loves them unconditionally and wants His children to be with Him.
No where in the bible does it say, “Gay people are going to Hell!” There are verses that say God detests it and that it is a sin. There is a lot of debate about the translations of that verse and the original Greek and Hebrew language that might leave some wiggle room open in the translation and CONTEXT is pretty important when reading the Bible… just dropping a verse here and there often leads to misinterpretation. If your focus is on condemning and not on leading people to Jesus, then how can you claim to be “Christ-like” while doing opposite of His example?
“And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth ALL men every where to repent.” — Acts 17:30
The bottom line is that all sin separates us from God. Whether you believe you are a sinner or someone else is a bigger sinner, doesn’t matter. God is the judge and He hates ALL sin. So He provided us a way to be wiped clean of our sin by sacrificing His son so that we could be with Him in Heaven. Shouldn’t THAT be our focus?
