Kerri
My name is Kerri and I’m very excited about reading Scripture and sharing here what I’ve read. Let’s study God’s word together!
1 Corinthians 6:12
“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything. – 1 Corinthians 6:12
I have the right to eat that package of cookies, but it is not beneficial for me. I have the right to eat two pieces of cake after supper instead of only one, but it is not beneficial for me. I will surely pay the price later. Though this is not the beginning of a new year where we all work hard for those New Year resolutions, it is the beginning of a new month and we can still work hard to change things for the better. Toward the latter days of my mom’s life she would have made her meals just a plate of sweets if we allowed her to. She told me that her mother always had dessert after supper. I also love sweets and cannot understand how some people do not. So, being the first day of a brand new month, I will once again try to have self-control when it comes to eating sugar.
I found on the internet 10 reasons why you need to stop eating so many sweets:
- They spoil your teeth.
- They cause your blood sugar levels to spike and drop.
- They hurt your immunity.
- They harm your liver.
- They cause you to gain weight.
- They make you resistant to insulin, which can lead to diabetes and cancer.
- They get you addicted.
- They damage your heart.
- They give you premature wrinkles.
- They harm your brain.
The most import reason why you need to stop eating so many sweets is:
“You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body,” — 1 Cor. 6:19-20
